 Hello,

I will use data collection by conducting surveys for my class. To ask questions about what type of learning they enjoy or help them the best. In my history class, I can use data collection to figure out what the class prefers for a field trip, projects, and many other things.  Being able to see the information and make decisions off the info will help my job as a teacher to accommodate the students.

While reading my classmate's blogs I really enjoyed seeing their opinions. Some people had the same opinion as me and some differed but, it was interesting seeing why they felt that way. Like the digital divide blog and the answers, we gave varied between students. I always valued others' opinions and the blogs were a nice way to see everyone's perspective and opened my eyes to things I did not know. The type of teacher blog we did was good because it allowed me to see how people thought of themselves and their personalities. It is nice to see how people think of themselves and then put that into words for an assignment.

The technology skill I'd like to learn next is how to fully maximize PowerPoint and Word because they are the most used of all the programs. I don't use Excel ever or any of the others so I'd like to polish my skills. I will achieve this goal by practicing on. my own time and also completing assignments in school using those programs to challenge myself more and more each time. It will be very beneficial to me in the future to be able to use these to their full potential. It will make interaction higher and the learning will be better in the classroom with it. With word it will allow me to portray things better to help get my word across and much more with more skills in the program.

 Hello,

I am not the biggest fan of distanced learning as I am more of an in person learner. The distanced learning makes it easier to procrastinate and be lazy because you aren't in the actual class. I do like being able to be home and do work but at the same time I enjoy going to campus and walking around. As a teacher i will try more interactive lessons with the students to try and keep their attention and keep it fun for them. Distant learning is harder than in person to me because you aren't given the resources like you are with in person with having interaction with classmates and the teacher, Zoom just doesn't fill that void for me.

Open educational resources are different resources used in educational settings. They are made to help students and even teachers further their education and use different types of programs to learn more. OER's are made to be available to anyone under a Creative Commons license to use for their benefit. The article I found talks about OER's being a resource used to fuel collaboration and useful when coming up with your own practices.  The article also shares the best ways to find the best OER's and even gives examples. ARTICLE

The powerpoint assignments taught me a lot I did not know. Especially the interactive one which taught me how to make Powerpoints fun. I enjoyed making a game and it was the more invested i'd been in an assignment. I didn't really have any problems with either assignment other than the speaking part of Assignment 4 because I kept messing up! I had to redo it multiple times and it was a pain because I kept messing up my speech. I can improve by venturing out and challenging myself more next time on both assignments to better myself and my skills.

 Hello,

The website design assignment taught me a lot of new skills. It allowed me to learn what makes a website visually pleasing and also how to create an informational platform in general. I really did not like the Weebly website designer because it was extremely hard to navigate. Overall, the website was a pain and the website design part was not my favorite. I ended up using WiX which was amazing compared to Weebly because WiX was very easy to navigate around the website and create my website as well. In the future it will be helpful to have the skills to create a website for any situation. Eric's Website

Diigo has been a very interesting application, I learned about it in this class and it seems to be a very helpful tool when looking for specific parts of text. Being able to save or "highlight" specific parts of an article and save it for later is very handy. I will continue to use Diigo in the future for other classes because it will be beneficial for my major as I read multiple types of texts all the time. In a team setting being able to share a certain sentence or paragraph with a group instead of the whole article saves time and gets the point across a lot easier.

Professional development and technology go hand in hand with one another. Teachers are supposed to keep up with the different trends in educational technology and it changes a lot. Technology is advancing very fast and its sometimes hard to keep up. Developing yourself as a teacher and being able to use technology to its full potential to teach students is a very hard tasks, especially with the topic of Digital Divide now as well where each student has access to different types of technology. I like to keep up with different new technologies or just advancements of previous ones to make sure I am up to date with what is going on around me. Twitter is a very good source for things like that as well. Twitter

 Hello!

The kinds of information you tend to see on a school teachers class page vary. Some teachers like to explain what is happening in their classroom while some teachers use it as an information center for the whole school. The class pages usually lay out what is going on in the class, the general information that students and parents need to know for the school year.  Also, important dates for the school and the individual classroom are usually found on the class page as well as a reminder for the students and parents. Some teachers use this as their primary way of giving out the information rather than by email or other ways of communication because it's easier.

I envision myself using technology for my professional responsibilities to make everything simpler. Technology in this day and age is almost a necessity when dealing with stuff professionally of course depending on the job or tasks you have to complete. The more that technology keeps advancing is making it more viable to get information out and also to receive information. Specific tool I would use as a teacher would be Youtube and Kahoot. Mostly because I enjoy the more interactive approach to things as I find them more enjoyable and easier to learn. Of course if theres are other interactive tools i'd implement them into the plan down the road to make it a better environment for the students.

I enjoyed doing the project on Pbworks but there are a lot of things I wish were different about the site itself. It was way a weird layout to me and i think it could use major updating to change the presentation. It was harder to navigate than most sites now and it was way to clustered on certain parts for my liking. The wiki itself serves a good purpose and I would use it for the general purpose of putting information on a single wiki and putting it out for my students or by my students. I would probably not use the platform often though as I think there are better and more visually pleasing ways to get information out the way the wiki does.

Diigo has been a very interesting tool to use because it allows you to bookmark and highlight different parts of a specific article. It helps with engaging with other students and showing off new information you are learning about and you can even share certain notes with classmates and teachers. Even for personal use it is nice to store information for later use when you need to look up a certain article you've used in the past. The only thing I kind of dislike about Diijo is I use a Macbook so navigating the extension is a little complicating.

Blogging has actually been very fun, I have always enjoyed writing so blogging just brings out that hobby. I have learned so much, like how to use different tools and how to format a blog to make it look visually pleasing. I enjoy being able to speak my mind and share my opinion on certain topics and also see how my opinion and experiences relate to others. I always wondered how to put together and run a blog but through this process I have learned all about it.  Blogging has brought me an entire new mindset towards people who do this for a living and shows just how much influence people can have on the internet.

A Web 2.0 Tool I would use very frequently when teaching is YouTube because of how creative the lessons would be. Youtube is one of the most interactive websites on the internet right now. The idea behind user content creation and user to user interaction. The lessons teachers could find would be extensive. Youtube would allow students to research and watch different videos centered around a topic and would learn tiny details from each and every video, especially with the amount of influence Youtube has had on the world. Web 2.0 tools are more centered around interaction and content creation and that is the whole purpose of Youtube.

My early twitter experience was very interesting, as I use my personal twitter to stay up to date with whats going around the world and whats happening on social media in general. The school twitter i have begun to use recently has been very informational as I just scroll through the feed to see new things happening in education and technology. I haven't been interacting much but soon I plan on attending one of the education nights on live twitter and interacting with professionals or other students on there. Twitter is very useful in the future because it allows information to be spread fast and easy. A discussion can be had on Twitter with not much effort with 100's of people. Twitter is one if not the best social app for information gathering/discussion.

Digital divide has started to affect the students and teachers more and more recently with the Coronavirus running around. With the amount of students being held at home and schools not being open and classes being virtual it leads to some students not having access to technology at home. Covid-19 has made people lose jobs which means some people can not afford to get themselves/ their kids the technology for their education. Some schools around have the ability to lend out computers, etc.. but not all and that leaves some kids with nothing. Digital divide affects people because they may not get the same information or resources that the kids with technology have and it is very upsetting. All students should have equal opportunities to get an education but, some things are unavoidable. Hopefully soon there will be a way to make sure the digital divide gap is closed forever. It would change my strategies because technology is a very convenient way to teach kids and allow them to learn more about the technology themselves.

I think the academic softwares is one of the best ways to teach students, especially with most schooling being done virtually. Some of the tools I'd like to incorporate into teaching is educational games. I think they are a fun and interactive way for students to learn and also have fun in the process. Games are so widely played and used throughout the world that it can become a huge part of education. Also simulations would be a very good tool to use depending on the field you are teaching. Simulations in like the medical field would be so informational and could lead to even better advancements in medicine in the future.

 Hello everyone,

In the ELA Standards for 6th grade teachers, standard 6 is using different types of media applications to show off a topic. Being able to show off the main idea or relative facts about a central topic is very essential and being able to do so using different apps like word or other video/photo softwares. Using this software to make something look pleasing and be able to grab the audiences attention while you are teaching them something, in my opinion makes for a better learning experience. I could implement this standard to my current skill set as of now, especially in applications like powerpoint and etc. I feel i have very common knowledge on powerpoint and word and could use that knowledge to carry out this standard.

In an 6th grade history/social studies class I believe that being able to tell the differences between ancient civilization and how they compare to the world today is a significant part of history. The standard SS.6.W.1.5 is an amazing one because it fits the script completely and I would implement it into a learning topic. It comes with an amazing resource which is like a template lesson plan which i could use as a brainstorming session for my own plan. Also there is even a web quest which is an added bonus because using technology to learn history can dig up some interesting facts. I would use this in my classroom because it will help students understand key points in different civilizations and compare and contrast them to each other and current ideas.

Internet searching as a teacher may be one of the most crucial things you can do. The internet is home to the most extensive information you can find. Of course there are a lot of fake things online and you can definitely fool yourself to believe something if you aren't paying attention to the source. The internet can provide you with activities for your students, even the most simple ones like a web search activity and allow the students to dig up information but, as the teacher your internet searching skills need to be used in order to inform the students about false information or bad sites to check. As the teacher searching the web with keywords can bring up relative topics and provide more info than a whole textbook. The internet searching skill where you use a hyphen and control your search to fit a specific category is a very helpful one because it narrows your search to a specific section and allows you to get the information fast and not spend time scrolling.

   Hello everyone,

Copyright is a very common thing in the world now with the advancements of technology over the years and many people have started to adapt to it. Copyright is using someone else's work for your own gain without giving the creator credit or getting permission in advance. It is a very extensive thing and as a teacher i would deal with these things by teaching the importance of it to the students beforehand. Fair use is a thing almost like copyright except you are able to use small bits of the creators work without permission. You are only able to use it in certain situations. For example, you can use maybe a 2-3 second excerpt from a song or article and not need permission.

Technology can lead to a lot of things and one is decreased productivity and that because, once someone picks up their phone or any bit of technology they can get zoned out and stay on it for hours on end. This makes it to where they don't get much done through the day and may fall behind. Also. academic dishonesty, where the student uses resources on the internet or personal notes and cheats on an assignment. This shows the student does not care or isn't trying to learn like they should be in order to complete the assignment on their own. With the adaption of online classes this is more frequent now in school.

While working on my newsletter I gained a few new skills on Microsoft Word. Mostly the creative aspect because I only usually use word for essays and not really art. Doing the newsletter has taught me the many thing you can do on word to create things and get an informational document that looks nice and presentable. These skills can be sued in the future if I ever need to create something artistic on word i have gathered the skills in order to do that on this assignment.

Second Blog Post!! Eric Cline

Hello!

1. My work with Microsoft word throughout my schooling has been abundant but, mostly using word for the normal things like essays/short stories. I never used word much for the other things like making fliers or newsletters, a few time I used word to create them but no where near as much as using it to write up something. I do prefer MS word over all word processing tools. I've used MS word all my life and never got too familiar with the others like Google Docs, Mac OS Pages.

2. ISTE is a very creative way to sum up about everything an educator should shoot to be. Some people don't realize it but educators if you think about it are sometimes in a kids life more than others and don't realize the impact they can have. Knowing what you are talking about and being able to use different tools and technology to teach people different lessons is a very important task when you are an educator. The standard most important to me is being a Citizen. If the educator is able to get to know the people they are teaching and take the time to really pay attention it will boost their teaching level by an amazing amount. I like teachers who will have a nice chat and figure out my strengths and weaknesses and help me through it which is why i treasure Citizen the most.

3. I believe the term digital native really does suit this generation. Everything and I mean almost everything now a days can be done through technology. It is almost unheard of to see things that technology hasn't found a loop hole in. The earlier generations being Digital Immigrants is also pretty true but, I'd also maybe not put them that far out of the circle of digital native. Kids are grown up around technology now and it plays a major role in a kids life. In the near future I could see technology reaching even greater heights and the way teaching is now will also change. The way technology can reshape things is astronomical.

First Blog! EME 2040 Eric Cline

 Hello everyone,

My name is Eric Cline and I am a junior now at FSU. I just transferred to FSU after getting my AA from TCC. I am originally from Oviedo, Florida but after a few things happened I ended up moving to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in the 4th grade. I plan to major in history with a minor in business or communication. I do not have a clear picture what I would like to do but hopefully I figure it out soon and can start to advance through college and through the rest of my life.

I haven't been in many educational setting but some examples i could think of would be using a powerpoint presentation in front of a class. I've had projects where i was given a topic and was supposed to teach the class about the topic, so using technology made that easy by putting together a presentation. Also, theres so many apps now that can make presentations more enjoyable and unique to make people more interested in learning. Another amazing way I've used technology to learn is through Kahoots or clicker games, it makes it very interesting to learn and the competitive edge it brings make it more exciting.

Personal Learning networks that I've been using are things like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram. YouTube is technically a one stop shop for all of your questions. The broadness of YouTube nowadays is so immense it's one of the most helpful tools out right now. Twitter is very nice for keeping up with current events around the world and is probably the easiest form of news and communication on the internet right now. Most the applications I use daily support my learning because I use them to answer all questions I have in a very small amount of time.

Im looking forward to learning about educational technology!
